Suchomimus

In November 1998 it was announced that a new species of dinosaur - Suchomimus tenerensis had been found in the Tenere Desert, central Niger by Paul Sereno from the University of Chicago.

The creature belonged to the group spinosaurids, which includes Tyrannosaurus and Velociraptor. It had 12" long hooked claws, a narrow crocodile-like skull, about 100 cone-shaped teeth, thus being a probable candidate for dominant African predator about 100 million years ago.
